About the project
The RickyRenuncia Project's main objective is to preserve digital materials (video, audio, images, news, tweets, among others) related to the resignation of the Governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló. We are collaborating with the Internet Archive to create a web collection on these events in order to create an interactive academic publication. The collection will be part of the Spontaneous Event Collections. We hope that this academic publication fairly reflects the development of events and the manifestation and feel of Puerto Ricans wherever they may be.

This page represents the first phase of this project where we were able to establish collaborations with the Digital Library of the Caribbean (DLoC), the University of Connecticut, the Internet Archive, among others. During this first phase, it was possible to create two collections, the first focused on tweets, and the second on news that can be accessed through this page. Similarly, we had the opportunity to collect banners to be digitized by the Digital Archive of Latin American and Caribbean Ephemera at Princeton University. Our focus in this first phase is to collect material related to this event.
We are currently making a call to donate digital materials about the Summer of '19. If you have any images, video and/or audio of this event, write to us at rickyrenunciaproyecto@gmail.com .

As part of our second phase, we were chosen to participate in an Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) grant. We will be collaborating with Professor Dr. Richard Marciano from the University of Maryland iSchool. Dr. Richard Marciano and the UMD iSchool have been developing a network focused on Computational Archival Sciences (CAS) for the past year. We are honored and pleased that our project will be part of this initiative to promote research on the intersection between CAS, digital humanities, and archival science.

Acerca del proyecto
The RickyRenuncia Project tiene como objetivo principal preservar materiales digitales (video, audio, imágenes, noticias, tweets, entre otras) relacionados a la renuncia al Gobernador de Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló. Estamos colaborando con el Internet Archive para crear una colección web sobre dichos acontecimientos con la finalidad de crear una publicación académica interactiva. La colección formará parte del Spontaneous Event Collections. Esperamos que esta publicación académica refleje el desarrollo de estos sucesos y represente de manera justa las manifestaciones y el sentir del puertorriqueño/a donde quiera que este se encuentre.

Esta página representa la primera fase de este proyecto donde logramos establecer colaboraciones con el Digital Library of the Caribbean (DLoC), la Universidad de Connecticut, el Internet Archive, entre otros. Durante esta primera fase se logró crear dos colecciones, una enfocada en tweets y otra enfocada en noticias y las podrán acceder a través de esta página. De igual manera, tuvimos la oportunidad de recopilar pancartas para que fueran digitalizadas por el Digital Archive of Latin American and Caribbean Ephemera de la Universidad de Princeton. Nuestro enfoque en esta primera fase es recolectar material relacionado a este evento.

Como parte de nuestra segunda fase, fuimos elegidos a ser partícipes de una beca del Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). Estaremos colaborando con el profesor Dr. Richard Marciano de University of Maryland iSchool. El Dr. Richard Marciano y la UMD iSchool han estado desarrollando durante el año pasado una red enfocada en Computational Archival Sciences (CAS). Nos sentimos honrados y contentos de que nuestro proyecto va a formar parte de esta iniciativa para promover la investigación sobre la intersección entre el CAS, humanidades digitales, y la archivística.
